Which training level fits?

Three levels, twelve questions. At the end you know which level to start at, and why.

12 questions, about two minutes. They ask what you have already done, not how good you think you are.

Why the questions ask about actions

With languages, people know they do not speak French. With AI they do not. Anyone typing into a chat window every day rates themselves as advanced, and that is exactly how a group gets booked one level too high. So there is no one-to-five scale here, just twelve questions about concrete actions.

The three levels

User
Works in the chat window, no files, no terminal.
Operator
Works with files, projects and workflows, and knows the cost.
Builder
Builds agents with tools, data sources, enforced rules and tests.

Working in chat

Have you ever given an AI one of your own documents or a longer text to work from, instead of just asking a question?

Have you improved an answer on purpose by naming what exactly was wrong or off about it?

Have you noticed an AI making something up, and checked it against a source yourself?

Do you reuse a prompt of your own instead of rewriting it every time?

Working with files and workflows

Have you let an AI work directly on files on your machine or in a project folder?

Have you run a command in the terminal that you did not already know by heart?

Have you saved two versions of the same prompt and compared the results?

Can you name what one of your AI runs cost, as a number?

Building systems

Have you connected a model to a tool or an API so it could fetch or trigger something itself?

Have you connected a data source of your own, such as a database or a document collection?

Have you enforced a rule outside the prompt, in code or in a check step, instead of only writing it into the prompt?

Have you attacked your own system on purpose, for example with a text carrying a hidden instruction?
